Director, Community Giving
Position Description
Reporting to the Senior Vice President Development, the Director, Community Giving provides leadership to the recruitment, stewardship and retention of donors as well as the marketing of appeals, products and events. The Director applies their professional experience, knowledge and judgement in the development, execution and analysis of all marketing initiatives with a goal of optimizing revenues while growing and strengthening the WWF brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide the planning and leadership to the Community Giving Team by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed in order to meet and to strive to exceed the goals of the Marketing plan.
- Responsible for the development of WWF-Canada’s Community Giving strategy and annual marketing plan (tactics, targets, timelines and budget) for all marketing channels and ensuring that related staff are briefed as to their roles and responsibilities.
- Identify and present both long and short range financial objectives for Community Giving initiatives such as direct mail appeals, face-to-face, and outbound telemarketing, including the preparation a detailed annual budget; scheduling expenditures; providing ongoing analysis of variances and initiating corrective actions within designated budgets.
- Work in close collaboration with the Director, Communications throughout the year to optimize alignment between the organization’s Community Giving and Communications strategies.
- Work in close collaboration with relevant conservation leadership throughout the year to ensure alignment of marketing initiatives and messages with conservation objectives.
- Provide short- and long-term market forecasts and reports through campaign analysis, directing market research and the collection & interpretation of market data.
- Influence present and future products by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.
- Provide leadership to the Marketing team which includes but is not limited to recruiting, selecting, orienting and training the members of the Community Giving Team, guiding their day to day activities, and providing coaching as required.
- Responsible for the completion of the performance reviews for all team members according to WWF-Canada’s HR policies.
- Directly oversee the identification, selection, orientation and day-to-day management of third party suppliers for Community Giving in accordance with WWF-Canada’s administrative policies, approved departmental plans and the budget.
- Accountable for measuring and reporting on all marketing campaign results.
- Recommend changes in basic structure and organization of marketing group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it and provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing problems and opportunities.
What We Are Looking For:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of successful leadership experience in the design and execution of marketing initiatives.
- Strong creative, strategic, analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience developing and managing budgets.
- Experience in team management including hiring, training, developing, supervising, coaching and evaluating the performance of team members.
- Experience overseeing the design and production of print and web based materials
- Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills
- A passion for detail and commitment to deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
