Community Engagement, Communications and Events Specialist

Position Description
WWF-Canada seeks a dynamic, creative and well-rounded Community Engagement, Communications and Events Specialist with strong writing, event and strategic communications experience.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced writer, with the ability to synthesize complex information into compelling narratives, and an experienced event organiser and planner who is effective at engaging with potential partners.

As a key member of our Quebec team and the French language representative on our national communications team, the candidate will work closely with communications, social media, digital and marketing colleagues to deliver on conservation, public engagement, event and fundraising communications objectives.  An energized individual who thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, you are looking for a job opportunity that lets your personality and your skills do the talking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong, dynamic and integrated Quebec narrative for WWF-Canada and identify and leverage opportunities to position the Organization’s voice and brand in the Quebec and Canadian marketplace.
  • Develop and lead the execution of community engagement and communication strategies in support of WWF-Canada’s conservation priorities with guidance from the Director, Quebec and in consultation with the Director, Communications and Media.
  • Provide writing capacity in French to support priority communications initiatives.
  • Fact checking (in conjunction with our Conservation teams) and copy editing to produce high-quality outward facing content that represents WWF.
  • Plan and organize events with support from staff.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partners, donors and event sponsors as needed Manage event logistics and budgets.
  • Coordinate volunteers.

Other duties include:

  • Administrative tasks related to communications and/or event planning.
  • Represent WWF-Canada at community events and engage the public about our workshops and programs

Requirements

  • French/English bilingual with the ability to write in French.
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in the areas of communications, event management, journalism, professional writing or similar.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a communications or event planning or journalism or writing role with demonstrated skill and ability to manage complex scientific, political, or technical content.
  • Experience with media relations and media placement.
  • Proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment and as a consultant.
  • Ability to work with senior management and offices in different locations.
  • Experience working in a conservation environment is an asset.
  • Media training is an asset.
