Campus Ambassador Volunteer
WWF-Canada is looking for Campus Public Mobilization Volunteers to provide on-campus outreach at locations across the country! The Campus Ambassadors will provide support at various campuses for WWF-Canada’s campaigns including Sweater Day (February 7, 2013) and Earth Hour (March 31, 2013) as well as help develop a network of support and help shape our campus engagement plans.
The ideal Campus Ambassador is either:
– An outgoing individual with strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial spirit, who can take ownership and execute campus initiatives within tight timelines.
or;
– Existing student groups who wish to partner with WWF on our on-campus initiatives.
What: Campus Public Mobilization Ambassador
When: Jan 2nd 2013 to April 30th 2013
Shifts: Flexible shifts. Approximately 5 hours/week for the duration
Where: Any post-secondary institution in Canada. 8 positions available. (max 1 per campus)
Responsibilities:
- Develop plans to raise awareness for Sweater Day and Earth Hour on campus
- Visit campus businesses, campus networks, faculty, and staff, to inform and encourage their participation in WWF-Canada events and activities
- Keep WWF-Canada informed with bi-weekly Skype/telephone updates and submit post-event reports
- Maximize exposure of WWF campus initiatives through internal communication to your personal networks and the use of social media
- Represent WWF-Canada, in a manner that is professional, engaging, pleasant and courteous-at-all-times
- Develop a network of campus contacts for WWF-Canada
- Plan and organize at least one SD and EH activity on campus
- Manage and report on approved budget for events (Activity & budget must be approved by WWF in terms of scope and scale)
Experience and Skills:
- Experience planning and implementing events and fundraising initiatives
- Proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated relationship building skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent English comprehension and communication skills are essential
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to ensure results
- Proficient with Excel, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, and Google Documents
- An interest and education in environmental/sustainability issues preferred
- Must be 18 years or older to apply
- Must be a current student at a Canadian Post-Secondary Institution
