Applications now open for WWF-IMD best in class sustainability program for business leaders

[Gland, Switzerland – 07 Nov. 2011] – The new round of applications for the Spring Session 2012 of the international One Planet Leaders program is now open. The session will run from 26-30 March 2012 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

One Planet Leaders is an innovative training program for driving sustainability into the core of business. It is jointly offered by business school IMD, and leading conservation organization WWF.

The program’s learning focus is on developing a winning business case and robust strategy for change, leading to sustainable practices which also deliver more profit to the company. The program is designed for leaders who operate at a strategic level and can drive change in their organisations. It is open to managers in business functions such as general management, R&D, procurement/supply, marketing and sales; and in sustainability functions.

Participants join a vibrant global network of peers and experts, and learn from an inspiring faculty which draws from the best of academia, NGOs and the private sector.

“One Planet Leaders develops dynamic leaders with the skills to integrate sustainability into all aspects of decision-making,” said Michael Yaziji, IMD Professor of Strategy and OPL program co-director. “Post-program you continue to learn and network through the One Planet Leaders alumni community, supporting the most important work of all – implementation in the business” .

”One Planet Leaders is essentially meant for ambitious business leaders who seek to future-proof their careers”, says Carolina Moeller, OPL program co-director at WWF International. “The program puts sustainability at the heart of business by using action-focused and experiential learning, drawing from best-in-class examples and cases from across the world.”

Three pillars make up the foundation of One Planet Leaders: business transformation, change management, and personal leadership. Participants work on their real-world sustainability challenges while being introduced to the complex issues and best practices in sustainability. They learn to embed sustainability into the core of their business, develop their ability to drive change, and leverage sustainability as a driver of innovation and growth. Pre- and post-program distance learning support will help participants drive and sustain their sustainability change initiatives.
