22nd Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb

Thank you for your interest in being a member of the 22nd Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb for WWF-Canada Volunteer Team! This year, the Team Challenge will take place on Thursday, April 19th and the Public Climb will be held on Saturday, April 21st 2012!

With over 6,200 climbers and 1.1 million dollars raised in 2011, the climb is our most significant fundraising event! Our 450 volunteers are critical to this incredible success! We simply couldn’t have this event without your enthusiasm, dedication and support!

Thanks to the amazing support of over 450 people, we have now filled all the volunteer positions for the 22nd Annual CN Tower Climb! If you would like to be added to our waitlist, please fill out the online application form and select General Assistance. We thank you for your support but you will be contacted ONLY if positions become available. Only volunteers who receive an official confirmation email with be registered volunteers.

Available Shifts: 
Team Climb (Thurs. April 19 from 3:30pm to 9pm) and Public Climb (Sat. April 21 from 5am to 1pm) 
Duties: You will be a jack of all trades and get to experience the whole event! You will help deliver food and supplies to volunteer teams, assist with directing the crowd and cover breaks as needed. 
Ideal Volunteer: This is a dynamic position that is best suited for a flexible, outgoing volunteer. You have strong interpersonal skills, strong English communication skills, like following directions and are able to take initiative. Volunteers must be able to stand for several hours and be mobile.

 

Key Details

  • Time – On Saturday, April 21st most volunteer shifts begin at 5:00AM and it is extremely important that volunteers arrive on time. If you do not feel that you can truly commit to arriving by 5:00AM, please do not sign up for the position. We truly appreciate your commitment and promise that hot beverages will be available!
  • Minimum age – To be a CN Tower event volunteer, you must be at least 16 years of age and have permission of a guardian (if below 18). 
  • Orientation Sessions – Atrium volunteers are asked to attend an orientation session on Tuesday, April 3rd. Tower volunteers are asked to attend an orientation session on Tuesday, April 10th. Registration volunteers are asked to attend a training session on either Thursday, April 12th or Saturday, April 14th. More details are provided to registered volunteers.
  • Transportation – On Saturday, April 21st we ask volunteers to arrive at 5:00AM. The TTC subway system is not in service at that time. However, the Blue Line bus routes are in service and stop very close to the site. More information will be provided to help make sure you have a smooth arrival! 
  • Community Service Hours – Volunteers who are interested in receiving documentation for their community service hours are asked to bring their paperwork to the event or request a reference letter via email after the event. Team Climb volunteers will receive 5.5 hours, Public Climb volunteers will receive 8 hours and volunteers who come to both will receive 13.5 hours.
