Overview

The Associate Specialist, People and Culture would be the initial point of contact for the People & Culture team, provide generalist level support. This role would primarily be responsible to support all recruitments, process and manage payroll and benefits, and support all People & Culture projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for the People and Culture department, answering employee questions or redirecting it to the appropriate People and Culture lead.
  • Support recruitments by posting roles online, scheduling and coordinating interviews, conducting phone screens, and reference checks.
  • Process payroll semi-monthly by using the HRIS and liaising with the external payroll service provider.
  • Review and ensure payroll taxes are remitted accurately and on-time.
  • Complete all payroll related reconciliations and support the annual audit.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for WWF-Canada’s major in-person fundraising events.
  • Provide general day to day administrative support for the volunteer program.
  • Manage the organization’s professional development budget by reviewing staff requests for reimbursement.
  • Manage employee benefits, including health benefits and RRSPs by processing enrolments, terminations, and answering general inquiries from employees.
  • Coordinate the onboarding of all new employees.
  • Process all invoices for the department.
  • Manage the staff service anniversary award program.
  • Draft employment contracts and other related documents for various staff changes.
  • Assist the People and Culture team, as required, with other related duties contributing to the mandate and successful operation of the department and organization.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a human resources coordinator or generalist, OR a combination of education and related experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing and maintaining an HRIS.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing payroll.
  • Pursuing a CHRP or CHRL is an asset.
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks within time sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail in data entry, record-keeping, and documentation.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Proven ability to develop effective, positive relationships and gain credibility across the organization through a service-oriented and collaborative approach.

Other Information

  • This position is a 1-year fixed term contract role, and is part-time (4 days per week).
  • This role must work out of the Toronto office at least 1-day per week.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to host volunteer training sessions or manage volunteers in-person at events.
