Observation Tower at the City of Trois-Rivières Wastewater Treatment Lagoons

Observation Tower at the City of Trois-Rivières Wastewater Treatment Lagoons

01/08/2020 - 30/11/2020

The wastewater treatment lagoons of the City of Trois-Rivières are located in the Sainte-Marthe-du-Cap sector. At first glance, this facility may not seem like the best spot for birds, considering the odour and the colour of the water. It is, however, a waterfowl viewing site prized by bird watchers. Each year, the site is visited by ornithologists in search of unpublished sightings of ducks and shorebirds. But observation has been a challenge, because the lagoons are fenced and surrounded by a mound. In order to meet the demand of amateur bird watchers and facilitate bird watching, the City wishes to build an observation tower at the edge of the lagoons. The construction of the tower is expected to begin in the summer of 2020. Signs will be installed to inform visitors about the treatment of the lagoons and the birds that can be observed in the area. A parking lot will also allow safe access for visitors.
