A Whale of a Time at World Oceans Day, St. John’s, NL

On June 7th, you’ll be up to your gills in fun if you head on over to the Marine Institute in St. John’s, Newfoundland for this year’s Celebration of World Oceans Day.  This is the 5th annual Oceans Day Event WWF has helped organize as part of the World Oceans Day Committee, and this year we’ve expanded our nautically-themed event to accommodate even more interactive exhibits and information on our oceans and the incredible diversity of life that depend on them.

Back by popular demand are the face painters, music & sing-a-longs, caricaturist, and balloonists. You’ll also find an array of educational interactive booths, boats, touch tanks and even a craft table. There’s also a few special animated visitors from the deep expected to appear on screen in the theatre. Visitors may even win prizes! Last year we had over 1200 people stop by, ready to dive into the sea of knowledge.
World Oceans Day presents people everywhere with an opportunity to learn more about how they can become conservation champions that help our oceans thrive.  The event is spread over two floors this year – don’t forget to pay a visit to the WWF-Canada booth!
See you this Saturday, June 7th, at Marine Institute, 155 Ridge Road, in St. John’s from 10am – 3pm.
