WWF’s We Love Cities is a global celebration of municipalities dedicated to the transition to a renewable energy future. It aims to highlight the positive work underway in rapidly growing cities all over the globe. Green towns and cities from 14 countries are vying for your affection for their efforts to build greener, more sustainable communities.
More than half the world’s population now live in urban centres. And these account for more than 70 per cent of global C02 emissions. But the good news is that cities are also places where real, demonstrable change can, and is, taking place. How? Through smarter transportation, more efficient buildings and smarter design, lower waste production and the transition to 100 per cent renewable energy.
Here in Canada you can vote for three Canadian cities – North Vancouver, Edmonton, and Surrey – who have been chosen for their innovative vision and efforts to engage their citizens. Check out their initiatives and vote for the one you love.
Around the globe, cities like Muangklang, Thailand, Monteria, Columbia and Belo Horizonte, Brazil are also participating.
