Outdoor movies, National Parks, and WWF!

Lucky for me, the Open Roof Festival exists!  Summer time is for staying out late when the sun’s heat lingers on into the darkness.  So if you’re hankering for some big screen entertainment, don’t spend time hidden away in a dark movie theatre – sit under the stars and enjoy a flick.
The Open Roof Festival is a not-for-profit organization that highlights independent artists from Canada and around the world.  I can’t wait to check it out, but if it doesn’t sound like an exciting enough time for you, note: it’s held outside at the Amsterdam Brewery!
We are excited for one film in particular: National Parks Project. WWF is supporting the screening of this film about Canada’s protected spaces.  It looks to be a beautiful and inspiring production, playing at July 14 at 7:30 p.m.  Here is the description:
“In the tradition of the Group of Seven, Margaret Atwood’s Survival and other cultural touchstones, the National Parks Project aims to explore the ways in which the wilderness shapes our cultural imagination. The core of the project is the parks themselves: places that most Canadians never visit, but are nonetheless amazing and inspirational parts of the country we call home.”

There are also some great bands putting on shows at this outdoor venue, and refreshments will be provided. How can you join this fun-filled festival, you ask?  Check out the website where you can see the listings.  Not only will you have a great time, but you’ll be supporting a great cause – Toronto’s independent film community.  And don’t forget to clear your calendar on July 14 to show support for your National Parks and WWF!
