Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup 2009
NEW Volunteer Position - MONTREAL - Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

1) Panda Mascot; 2) Panda Escort

Tasks:

1) Panda Mascot: Wear and animate the Panda costume without any vocalisation. Engage participants in the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean up. Be in photos with cleanup participants.
2) Panda Escort: Escort the WWF-Panda to enable engagement and energizing of participants, be the Panda's 'voice' when necessary since Panda will be unable to speak. Engage participants in the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean up, take photos of Panda and participants.

Skills required:
1) Panda Mascot: must be strong and able enough to wear the Panda Mascot for at least 30minutes each time, must have an outgoing and fun personality, and be able to activate the costume. Physical theatre experience/interest is an asset.
2) Panda Escort: ability to engage and connect with others, outgoing & fun personality, professional and courteous at all times, well-groomed and conscientious.

Total number of hours required: 5 hours for each position from 10am to 3pm (tbc).
Date required: September 30th 2010.
Location: Montreal. Exact location will be confirmed.

CLOSED - Assistant Reception Volunteer

Department: Donor Relations & Services.

Tasks:
Greet all visitors to the WWF-Canada headquarters' office in a friendly and courteous manner, handle their requests quickly and efficiently. Provide prompt, courteous, friendly and professional response to all inbound calls, while being helpful in quickly directing the caller to the correct person and/or department. Accept all inbound mail and couriers as necessary. Outgoing Mail Processing. Make outbound calls to donors with donation related issues

Skills & Character/Profile required:
  • Must be friendly, positive, and enthusiastic about making a difference and passionate about the environment.
  • Some clerical/administrative experience and post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Past experience (paid or volunteer) in the not-for-profit sector is an asset, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail with a regard for quality & professionalism.
  • Excellent phone manner with articulate and professional disposition.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Organized
  • High level of manual dexterity
  • Motivated, pro-active, and works well with minimum supervision

  • Understands and carries out instructions accurately.

Department: Donor Relations & Services

Tasks:
Assisting the Database Manager and Donor Relations Department with the clean-up and maintenance of donor records within our database, Raiser's Edge. This includes mostly donor record merges, with the possibility of also assisting with donor address and contact information updates.

Skills required
  • Fast & accurate with data entry & word processing.
  • Detail orientated, motivated, and can work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Minimum 1 year previous data entry experience
  • Some clerical/administrative experience and post-secondary education is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer systems
  • Excellent Typing & Data Entry skills.
  • Understands and carries out instructions accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
Character/Profile required
  • Volunteers must be friendly, positive, and enthusiastic about making a difference and passionate about the environment.
  • Suits a calm and focussed individual, with an ability to handle sitting for extended periods of time doing repetitive tasks.
Total number of hours required per week: a 4 hour shift, once/week.

Shift options:
9am-1pm Monday or Tuesday OR 1pm-5pm Monday or Tuesday.

End date:
Minimum 6 month commitment, as per Volunteer Program standards.
